LDCRC 2020-21 Roadmap: Research Report

For our Ledgerback Digital Commons Research Cooperative (LDCRC) Roadmap for 2020 - 21, we have decided to discuss our specific end-goals in individual posts, centered on the development of certain projects and research objectives, throughout Summer 2020.

In this post, we will discuss our Platform Cooperativism Research Report and our goals for it.

We plan to release a research report on platform cooperativism .

The report’s theme revolves around platform cooperativism and data governance. The more specific details of the research report are to be determined (TBD). Through the report, we hope to gain a better understanding of how platform cooperatives can mutually and ethically govern, collect, share, and monetize data while empowering membership.

Our goals for the Platform Cooperativism report are to:

  • generate and spread ideas, knowledge and research about topics relevant to the network society;

  • study ethical uses of data by platform cooperatives;

  • investigate how platform cooperatives can share data with each other;

  • inform and educate stakeholders in the platform cooperativism movement about data governance

  • discuss alternative approaches to data governance in the platform economy;

  • encourage platform participants to rethink their data governance relationship with platform owners;

  • raise awareness of the work being conducted in the DCRC.
